Important Considerations:
This is a simplified Snellen chart for screening purposes. It's not a substitute for a professional eye exam.
The accuracy of the test depends on the screen size and the distance from the screen.
Always include a disclaimer about the limitations of online vision tests.
Tools Used:
Snellen Chart:
The classic tool for measuring distance visual acuity.
Consists of rows of letters or symbols that decrease in size.
Acuity Scores:
Snellen Notation:
The most common way to express visual acuity is using the Snellen fraction (e.g., 20/20, 20/40).
The top number (20) represents the distance (in feet) at which the test is performed.
The bottom number indicates the distance at which a person with normal vision could read the same line.
20/20 is considered normal vision. 20/40 means you can see at 20 feet what a person with normal vision can see at 40 feet.
Right/Left Eye Considerations:
Monocular Testing:
Visual acuity is always tested one eye at a time (monocularly).
This helps identify differences in vision between the two eyes.
It's essential to record the acuity for each eye separately (OD for right eye, OS for left eye).
